There is no way to put this genie back in the bottle

That’s it, my patience is gone. This year has finally pushed me over the edge. Perhaps it is COVID fatigue, but I am over helicopter, snowplow, or bulldozer parents. It needs to stop. It has been bad for a decade but COVID has made it worse, much worse.

An Open Letter to Our Valued Clients

If you have read a newspaper, watched the news, or listened to the radio then you are aware of some economic changes that are occurring. A month or so ago, we were warned of another toilet paper shortage. Not because people were in pandemic panic mode but because much of the tree pulp used to manufacture toilet paper comes from Brazil, and there are no available containers to ship the pulp to the US. This shortage of containers is now crippling the supply chain in a multitude of industries, including ours.

    Congratulations Graduates

There is no question that the graduation/commencement season in 2020 was tough. Hard to believe that 2021 may be an even more difficult year, at least in the Northeast. How is that possible as more and more people are vaccinated and things are opening up nationwide?

    Coronavirus Consternation

Perhaps it’s that the Pandemic has now dragged on for 14 months, or maybe it’s simply that a lot of the rules haven’t caught up with the current situation, but recently, many of the announcements and decisions about the current pandemic have left many scratching their heads, me among them.

If I had my life to live over

Last week’s blog was about 5 things that I believe every adult should read. Being truthful it was a piece that appeared in our last newsletter and we simply repurposed it. One of the pieces is a poem by an 85-year-old woman named Nadine Stair (although there are a number of sources that say she never actually existed). Here is the piece, regardless who wrote it, the words and spirit are beautiful.

Things that you need to read

Recently, I overheard someone doing an interview and the question that was posed was, what are 4 books that every adult should read? Now, that is a great question.

    Somethings Got to Give

Sunday dinners in our house, along with updates of the previous weeks’ happenings, often include discussions about what is going on in the world, politics, social justice issues and, on occasion, student loan forgiveness. My son and daughter in law, as you may surmise, are in the pro forgiveness camp while I am not convinced.

Trying to get a little Spring In my step

Let’s face it, spring 2020 arrived with some promise but that quickly dissipated with the arrival of a thing called the Coronavirus. Mother Nature did her part providing wonderful greenery, beautiful flowers, warm days and nights. Hope, like the rest of us, was put in quarantine in Mid-March.

  • There is such a thing as a stupid question and other falsehoods

There is such a thing as a stupid question and other falsehoods

Over time, the expression “there is no such thing as a stupid question” has been elevated to the level of fact. It is not true. Not now, nor has it ever been, true. Whether you want to call the person on it is another issue all together, but there are stupid questions. Admit it, most of us, at one time or another, have asked a question and before we finished the sentence, we realized it was a dumb question. Comedian Lewis Black, in one of his routines talks about stupid statements that he has heard, that are so unintelligent that they make his head want to explode. We have all been in the presence of people that have asked questions that make us stop in our tracks and wonder if we heard correctly.
