    So long Holiday Season 2022

T’was a week before Christmas at 6:30 PM,

when into an empty parking lot, I did pull in.

It was dark and gloomy at good old FUN Ent.,

not an employee could be found, they were totally spent.

  • Here Comes Santa Claus

    Here Comes Santa Claus

It is hard to believe that in a few short days Christmas will be here. All the sales are just about done. Cookies are finished baking. The stockings are hung by the chimney with care. Presents are wrapped, placed neatly under the tree, or hidden away from prying eyes and Jolly Old St. Nick will soon be making his annual pilgrimage around the globe. Christmas is a time of joy, warmth, and family.  It is also a time of unbridled excitement and wonder for kids. Many are focused on presents and the question of what Santa will bring to them; while others love the lights, the sights, the sounds, and even the smells of the holiday season. For the better part of 4 plus decades, I have seen Christmas through the eyes of those kids and the wonderment the season brings.

There are days when I love my job

Every year at this time, for whatever reason, some of us that work at a lot of events talk about the more interesting events and locations we have worked at. It is also something that clients on occasion ask us about. Here are just a few of the good, the bad, the ugly, and the bizarre that we have encountered over the years.

  • Happy Holidays!

    December 5th, 2022

    Happy Holidays!

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,” from Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities. He wasn’t talking about the holiday season, but he certainly could have been. Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday are all behind us. Our in boxes are still jammed full of ideas for holiday gifts for friends, family, co-workers, and clients. Despite all the “big sale days” having passed, the deals keep coming. One ad on the radio even talked about Black November savings. It means that the final countdown to the holidays has begun.

  • Giving Thanks Should be Year Round

Giving Thanks Should be Year Round

November is almost in the books; Thanksgiving has passed, and we now rush headlong into the holiday season. With November giving way to December, for many people the month-long thankfulness campaigns will end. For those that are unfamiliar with the Thankfulness campaigns, they are when people post on social media every day in November, something or someone they are thankful for. It is a nice thought, but I am not sure why it gets jammed into one month and why it needs to be broadcast to the world. Is it more about thanking individuals or is it really to show the world that those posting are good caring people? Why are we saving this for one month out of the year? Should this not be a regular part of our lives?

  • How long will I be relevant?

How long will I be relevant?

There is no question that when conference season rolls around, and I see students and professionals that are so much younger than I, that I begin to question what I have left to give. It is something that   has worried me for years. At what point do I stop relating to my clients and when do they stop finding value in what I provide?

Things Picked Up and Thought About While Traveling

Observing people is truly one of my favorite things to do. There are no better places, except possibly casinos, than airports and tradeshows or conventions to do that at. Recently, I have been to both. Just some mental notes and thoughts from my very recent travels.

  • You Should Get Out and Vote today!

You Should Get Out and Vote today!

This blog will be published on November 8, 2022, election day from coast to coast. No, the occupant of the White House will not change but a lot of other things could. Every single seat in the House of Representatives, technically, is up for grabs. I’m certain that in some districts in some states there are unopposed races happening but every two years the House of Representatives must go before the voters and be reelected, or they will be looking for a new job. There are also contests for open Senate seats, Governors races, and many local contests as well.

    October Can be Frightfully Great!

Maybe it is my age catching up with me, or the fact that COVID has made me more appreciative of what I have, but these last 2 years I have paid significantly more attention to the beauty of fall in New England.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – One Persons Opinion

For some, the subject of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a topic that has evolved over the last decade. In truth, this discussion/debate has raged for centuries. Calling it diversity, equity, and inclusion may be a new name, but the thoughts, feelings, and emotions are anything but new.
