    FUN and the PPP

In response to my recent blog on the student loan debt forgiveness, we received a comment from someone that had read the piece, pointing out the fact that I had never acknowledged that Fun Enterprises had taken a loan that was forgiven from the federal government in the form of the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) during the Corona Virus Pandemic. When I was writing the blog on Student Debt, the PPP wasn’t on my mind because I felt the two were not related. So, I sat down and penned a response and sent it to be edited. Based on the feedback I received, it seemed that my response was a bit defensive, which is never a smart way to approach a blog topic. Still, I feel the need to address the issue because the comment lent itself to the idea that I was being less than forthcoming about the PPP loan we received, which has never been true.

    Memorial Day 2022

Every year on this day, I stop and remember the sacrifices that all those men and women have made. I never had the discipline to be in the armed forces, but I respect and appreciate those that have chosen that path. I sleep much better knowing that they are out there doing a job I can’t see myself ever doing. Their sacrifices have made the freedoms possible that are often taken for granted. If I forget to say it later, thank you all.

    My How Business Has Changed

Business in this country has changed dramatically over the years, and not just during the pandemic. Sure, we have all heard about the devastation to the restaurant and hospitality industry, labor shortages in many business sectors and locales, plus worldwide supply chain issues associated with the pandemic. But there are things other things that have fundamentally changed in the business world.

Should We Wipe Out Student Loan Debt?

We are a company with a significant college and university client base, and because of that, we interact with a lot of college students on a regular basis. There has been a lot of talk about the crushing burden that student loan debt is heaping on the backs of recent and not so recent college graduates.

Entering the Working World: “Post” Pandemic

As a senior marketing major at Stonehill College, I find myself feeling anxious, yet excited, to be entering the working world in just under a month.

I have never worked a full-time job before, so the thought of doing that is nerve-wracking. Most of my college experience has been affected by the pandemic, since the lockdown happened the spring of my sophomore year.

  • Defining Generation Z

    Defining Generation Z

It has taken me more than three years of extensive research; reading books, sifting through articles, sitting in on webinars, and conducting my own man on the street style interviews, to become an expert on Generation Z, self-proclaimed of course. With all this newly acquired knowledge, it seems a shame to keep it to myself, so I am going to share what I have learned about this generation. Here, in a nutshell, are some of the highlights:

Are all inclusive resorts really worth it?

This past spring break, myself and two of my closest friends (along with 500 other college students) stayed at the Breezes Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. It was beautiful and we had an amazing week. We booked an all-inclusive package through STS (Student Travel Services), a travel agency geared towards college students’ spring break vacations.

  • Does Your Boss Suck?

    Does Your Boss Suck?

If you’ve worked long enough, chances are you can answer this question with a resounding yes. Count me in that category. I, like so many of you, have had a terrible boss or two. Embarrassingly enough, I have also been a terrible boss. It is hard to write those words, but they are in fact true. Never having shied away from tough conversations or challenging the wrongs that I see; it would be disingenuous not to include myself. Like many others before me, I was thrust into a position of leading and managing others with no training and too much ego.

  • Can You Imagine…I Can’t

    Can You Imagine…I Can’t

Can you imagine being a high school student packing up your things and heading off to a boarding school? For some of you the answer is a resounding yes. Generations of your family have done it and it is no big deal. What if that school was thousands of miles away, in a country where you have no family and where they speak a different language than you? Still think that answer would be yes? Let’s add a few more things to the mix. How about if your visa is expired and you can’t get back home to see your family until you have a new visa or at least an appointment at the embassy to get a new visa? Add in that for a variety of reasons your parents can’t come to see you. Oh, I almost forgot that you are from a country that is currently involved in a military conflict that has global implications.

  • Apparently, We Need to Talk About Customer Service, AGAIN!

Apparently, We Need to Talk About Customer Service, AGAIN!

Follow this blog long enough you will see that customer/client service is a cornerstone of our business. There is nothing that takes the wind out of our sails more than a report from a client that they were dissatisfied with our service because of the conduct of our staff. It is easier to hear that equipment malfunctioned or that the lighting on the photos was bad than to be told that the issue was our staff being cranky or hard to deal with.
