In person Staff Meeting
As some of you may know, our staff all have different work schedules, some fully in the office, some hybrid, and some fully remote. We meet weekly for a staff meeting on Zoom, but we try to meet in person once a month. During the busy seasons sometimes it's just not feasible. Therefore, with the holidays and winter break, it's been a while since we were all together. We met on Tuesday, February 11th and Management provided 2 massage chairs and a physic reader for the staff to enjoy after our meeting and a nice lunch.

Behind the Orange Shirt 2025
We used to have a section in our Newsletter before 2019 that was called behind the orange shirt where we shared a little about ourselves. We all think everyone knows us and all the things we do. However, after decades in my industry, I had a moment of realization: despite my experience and reputation, some people still didn’t fully understand what I do. That’s when I knew I had to update my Behind the Orange Shirt.
Who I Am
When people hear my name, I get a variety of responses. Some say, “AC is loud,” a nod to my high school voice lessons that taught me to project. Others know me as “the person with two initials.” Clients say, “Call AC—she has tons of ideas.” Associations say, “Call AC—she’s a great volunteer.”
But what do I say?
I am a leader in entertainment event design, production, and management. For over 30 years, I have created incredible experiences for clients, bringing expertise, creativity, and attention to detail. I hold degrees and certifications that validate my knowledge, but beyond that, I like to learn, constantly evolving with industry trends.
Yet, one day, someone told me, “I never knew that’s what you do.” That moment reaffirmed that being great at what I do isn’t enough—I need to communicate it clearly.
My Approach
I am a rule follower. While others might share event photos and details without permission, I believe in protecting my clients’ privacy. We only post what we have explicit consent to share.
I am a trusted partner. Many of my clients call me first when planning an event, knowing that even if they don’t book with me immediately, they’ll walk away with insights and solutions tailored to their needs.
I see the forest through the trees. While a client may call for entertainment, I look beyond that one element, considering the full scope of the event. I collaborate with trusted partners—venues, décor specialists, AV teams—to ensure everything works seamlessly. I am equally comfortable being the entertainment provider, event manager, or overseeing the entire production.
I am a lifelong learner. I have traveled across the country attending conferences, always eager to expand my knowledge. No one is an expert at everything, and I value continuous education to stay ahead in my field.
I am an educator at heart. With a background in education, I find joy in guiding clients—especially those new to event planning—helping them navigate the process and achieve their vision.
I believe in community. I am actively involved in industry associations and a firm believer in volunteering and fostering membership. Professional networks are about more than just connections; they’re about strengthening our industry.
I value expertise. Though I have a master’s in counseling, I recognized the need for specialized education in my field. That’s why I pursued and earned my CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation—one of the most respected credentials in the industry.
My Commitment
Honesty, empathy, and transparency are not just words to me—they are the foundation of who I am and what Fun Enterprises stands for. Ask my clients, vendors, or performers, and they will tell you: we are fair, ethical, and committed to excellence.
The safety, comfort, and success of my team, clients, guests, and performers come first. I approach every event as if it were my own, working through challenges with my clients to find the best solutions. Sam's Gluten-Free Picks for Spring
Irish Soda Muffins
I love making Corned Beef and Cabbage for my family on Saint Patrick’s Day. I also have really grown to enjoy Irish Soda Bread. Here is a traditional recipe along with options to add a little extra to make them either sweet or savory.
Pao Doce (Portuguese Sweet Bread)
– derived from “The New Betty Crocker International Cookbook)
I grew up with my Aunt making Easter Bread every year and it was my absolute favorite.
When I became gluten free in 2009 we tried to replicate it, and no matter what I did, it
wouldn’t work out. Then finally, after some research, I realized that the double proofing
of the traditional recipe would not work for gluten free. Below you will find my tried and
true adaptation, complete with just one proof.
Lemon Cookies
One of my favorite Christmas cookies (Auntie Angie’s Italian Wedding Cookies)
became one of my favorite Easter cookies when I swapped out the anise oil for
lemon one year. These light fluffy cookies are sure to be a hit.

The Power of Play at Work

Work and play might seem like opposites, but the truth is, bringing fun into the workplace can be a game-changer for businesses. Studies show that employees who engage in playful activities at work are more creative, productive, and satisfied. At Fun Enterprises, we know firsthand how the right blend of fun and professionalism can lead to a thriving workplace culture.
Incorporating play into the work environment isn’t just about having a good time - it has tangible benefits. Almost everyone knows at least one person who is super funny and can break the tension during stressful times with a joke or antic by making people laugh. Laughter is a fantastic stress reliever, both mentally and physically, and if incorporated into the workplace culture can have long lasting benefits for employees and the company. Here’s why companies should encourage play at work:
- Boosts Creativity and Innovation – Playfulness encourages employees to think outside the box, leading to fresh ideas and innovative solutions.
- Enhances Team Bonding – Engaging in fun activities fosters camaraderie and breaks down hierarchical barriers, making collaboration easier. When people have fun together (regardless of whether they are co-workers, managers, directors, or the owner of the company) they learn different personality traits of each other and form more meaningful relationships.
- Reduces Stress – A workplace that encourages lighthearted activities can help employees manage stress better, improving overall well-being.
- Increases Engagement and Productivity – When employees feel happier and more connected to their work environment, they are more engaged and productive.
Not every company has a ping-pong table or an in-office arcade, but there are plenty of ways to infuse fun into the daily grind. Here are some easy-to-implement ideas:
- Themed Dress-Up Days – Encourage employees to dress up for themes like Throwback Thursday or Superhero Day to add some excitement to the office. Whether you are in the office or working remotely everyone can still participate. No Zoom or Teams meeting that day, no problem, have the remote staff take a selfie and send it in.
- Office Games and Challenges – Host trivia contests, scavenger hunts, or team competitions to encourage friendly rivalry and teamwork. Most of which can be adapted to accommodate hybrid/remote work forces. If budget is an issue, think of things like a "joke of the day" sent from leadership every morning - something like that can send a positive message, set the tone for the day throughout the team, as well as offer an icebreaker between co-workers. "Did you see Ken's joke of the day today... "
- Surprise Break Activities – Plan spontaneous dance breaks, ice cream socials, or creative brainstorming sessions with a twist.
- Interactive Meetings – Add a fun element to meetings by incorporating games, humor, or team-building exercises.
- Celebrating Wins Creatively – Instead of the standard email recognition, celebrate achievements with mini-parties, silly party hats and trophies, or personalized shoutouts.
For play to have a lasting impact, it should be incorporated in the company culture rather than being a one-time event. Leadership should set the tone by participating in fun activities and encouraging a balance between work and play. When employees feel safe to express their creativity and take short breaks to recharge, they return to their tasks with renewed energy and focus. It’s important to note that forced play is not fun, so if you have introverted team members, or anyone isn’t up for the antics on any given day, let them know it’s ok not to participate. Take it a step further and ask your staff for their input as to what their level of comfort is. It's always a good idea to get buy in and participation from everyone.

Hope Springs Eternal

Years ago, one of the artists we worked with did a cartoon that featured Wayde and I. Keep in mind this was 1993 more than a decade before the Red Sox won their first World Series in about 100 years. His cartoon expresses hope in the baseball season that was just about to begin. Unfortunately, 1993 ended the way so many seasons before had ended with the mantra wait until next year. There is still something magical about Spring.
Summer is great as I am always cold and like the longer, warmer days and nights, but there is something about Spring that I truly love. Perhaps it is that it is a time of rebirth. Trees, grass, and flowers that have lay dormant under frozen ground or coated with snow and ice emerge from their slumber to again reach to the skies. Grass turns from its brown lifeless state to lush green and flowers bloom and burst with vibrant colors. It is nice to shed the endless layers of warm clothing in exchange for a light jacket and short sleeves.
Peoples’ moods seem to improve as the days warm and the snow and ice become distant memories. Running and walking shoes are taken out of the closet or new ones are purchased as the indoor treadmill has been replaced by long walks or a refreshing run in open air. Bikes are pulled out of storage and prepared for those nice spring and summer rides whether they are over neighborhood roads and trails or hurtling down a mountain path. Parks that have seen few visitors during the cold barren winter months are now full of bird watchers, hikers and their lakes and streams welcome canoes and kayaks.
Spring may truly be the most exciting time of the year. Football is probably the most watched sport in this country but for many there is nothing better than America’s Pastime BASEBALL! There is something relaxing about spending a few hours at a ballpark. It truly doesn’t matter if it is a pro game, college contest or even a well-played little league game, baseball junkies will watch it all. There is something to be said about a sport that is not constrained by timed periods but instead is played for a set of innings or until the sun goes down. Although it may not have the nonstop action of other sports it is still a great game.
Spring cleaning for many is an annual tradition. A time to declutter and prep yourself and your living space for the months ahead. It is also a great time to reset. Three to four months have passed, and it is a great time of year to review where we are all at. How has the first quarter to a third of the year gone? What changes do I need to make to realize the goals that I have set for myself. Two thirds to three quarters of the year remain and it is a great time to get back on track at work, home or with personal connections. Yes, Spring is a favorite of mine I hope it is for you too!
