Looks Like the 2024 Season for the Boston Red Sox is Going to be a Swing and a Miss!
April 15th, 2024
There is no better time of the year than early Spring for a baseball fan. Hope springs eternal as the slate is reset and every team starts 0-0 with, in theory, the chance to be doused in Champaign and hoist the World Series Trophy in October. Many Red Sox fans suffer through the cold, dreary winter months just waiting for the obligatory photo of the truck being loaded outside of Fenway Park ready to head to the warm confines of JetBlue Park, the team’s spring training home.

Happy Fourth Anniversary?
March 25th, 2024
It was four years ago that America shut down, following in the footsteps of China, Italy, and others. COVID 19 had arrived on our shores, taken hold, and forced the US to close up shop. Originally, we were all told to hunker down and isolate for 2 weeks to flatten the curve and then (or so it seemed) it would be business as usual.

Sometimes it Feels Like the Good Old Days
March 19th, 2024
Sports have always been a major part of my life. Growing up in South Bend, Indiana, Saturdays in the fall when Notre Dame was playing at home, were sacred. It wasn’t uncommon to see the Goodyear blimp circling overhead and we lived close enough to the stadium to hear the marching band playing the fight song. A friend of mine and I would go over to the stadium and try and find tickets. Often, we found people who had friends that didn’t show up and they were happy to give us their tickets. Some game days we waited until halftime and would get tickets from folks that had seen enough and were leaving at the half or just decided they would rather tailgate and listen to the game instead of watching it. In those days, you could get back into the game even with a ticket stub.

What Has Happened to Personal Responsibility?
March 11th, 2024
The Boston Globe sent me an article that I almost deleted. Other than the fact it was the location of our family home for a few years, there are few things about the Brookline Massachusetts tobacco ban of anyone born this century, that is of interest.

Please Research and then VOTE!
March 4th, 2024
March is only the 3rd month of the year, which means we have 8 months until the next presidential election. Eight months of television ads run by Political Action Committees and the candidates themselves. Two thirds of 2024 will be taken up by campaigns that promise no end to some of the nastiest, backbiting, fought in the gutter, politics we have ever seen. There will be no civility, no decorum, and certainly no pleasantries exchanged by the candidates as they are on the trail bringing their cases to the American people. We will spend less time on the issues and more time on personal attacks and verbal jabs being exchanged. Many will go to the poles and cast a ballot for the “lesser of two evils”, while others enthusiastically vote for one candidate or the other.

Giving for the Right Reasons
February 26th, 2024
It is hard to believe that after being married to a fundraiser for more than 35 years, having a son who is also a fundraising professional, and a mother who was a frequent contributor to charitable causes regardless of her own financial well-being, I never looked up the definition of philanthropy. According to the Miriam Webster Dictionary it is:
