Event Themes to Keep in Mind

March 12th, 2019

calendar of events

The perfect theme can be the cornerstone of any event. It’s what you base your entertainment off of, your marketing, your décor, etc. Once you find the perfect theme, many of the details will seem to fall into place.

Easier said than done.

Picking a theme that isn’t overdone with your audience and will draw people to your event is a big feat. One tactic we’ve seen work well is not pulling a random theme out of the blue, but rather planning an event around a theme that is already occurring in the world or pop culture. An obvious example of this is planning themed events around major holidays; like a build your own valentine event around February 14th. While there aren’t enough secular holidays while classes are in session, there are plenty of smaller holidays, recognition days, and annual occurrences you can capitalize on with proper planning. Here are some of our favorite themed events to help you get inspired:

Spring Break

Help your students plan ahead for spring break! While campuses typically clear out for spring break, having a pre-spring break-themed event can help your students get excited for what they have planned and fight off those winter blues. Some of our favorite programs your world travelers might be interested in include Personalized Luggage Tags, Passport Caricatures, or Airbrush Backpacks.

National Love Your Pet Day
Did you know that February 20th is National Love Your Pet Day? If you have a furry friend as your school mascot this is the perfect day to celebrate with them! Some great programs for this include Green Screen Photos or Digital Caricatures.

Earth Day

Earth Day takes place every April 22ndand is a great chance to plan an outdoor program before the semester is over. Earth Day is celebrated around the world in order to bring awareness to environmental issues and how we can have an impact on the world we live in. We have a full blog on programs related to Earth Day. Some of the highlights include Photo Water Bottles, DYO Ceramic Pots, and Giant Board Games.

The Big Game

Whether it’s football, basketball, or a different sport at the collegiate or professional level, there are big games that take place each semester that your students get fired up for. Help them celebrate with one-of-a-kind swag. Some of our top game day programs include Airbrush Rally Towels, Airbrush Foam Fingers, and Personalized Pennants.

Summer Solstice

Not only is this the longest day of the year, but it also marks the official first day of summer. Consider planning a fun, summer-themed event for those students who are still on campus or taking summer classes. Some of our best summer-day programs include Airbrush Beach Towels, Airbrush Flippy Flyers, and Shell Decorating.

National Day of Unplugging
It seems like every college student in America these days are always stressed out. Between juggling classes, activities, sports, part-time jobs, internships, and having a life, we don’t blame them! That’s why celebrating National Day of Unplugging on March 3rd is so important. Give your students an event where they can put down the phone, step away from their to do list and have a little fun. Some of our favorite programs for a fun, relaxing event include Big Fun Chair, Do-It Yourself Bamboo, and Fun Paint Parties.

Graduation season is full of parties, but holding events to help your students prepare for life in the real world, while having fun, is also important! Some programs to help your graduates get ready for the real world include Professional Headshots for their LinkedIn profiles, Personalized Business Card Holders, and Airbrush Laundry Bags.
