3 Ways to Keep Guests Entertained at a Baby Shower

January 29th, 2018 by Amanda Bradley

This past weekend I attended a baby shower with 58 women in attendance. You read that right – Fifty. Eight. Needless to say, there were a lot of gifts to get through.

Even though the food was delicious and I greatly enjoyed catching up with family I haven’t seen in a while, I couldn’t help getting a little bored. That’s when I noticed they hadn’t planned anything to entertain the guests. Yes, they had the typical quizzes to win a prize, but it only took a minute or two to fill out.

Don’t get me wrong; this day should be all about the expecting parents, but your guests took the time to celebrate this momentous occasion with you, brought a gift from your registry, and maybe even traveled a great distance to join you. If you are planning a baby shower soon, consider how your guest will spend their time while the mother-to-be opens gifts. Here are some of our favorite ideas:

Personalized Onesies

Stock your baby’s closet with some personalized onesies! Ask guests to bring a solid color onesie in various sizes or have some available for guests at their table. Provide your guests with fabric markers and let them get creative! By the end of the shower, you will have a pile of handmade onesies. All made with love that your baby can wear for years to come. Your guests will love seeing photos on social media of the new baby wearing their onesie.

Handmade Books

If creating your own design is a little too crafty for your group, consider opting for coloring sheets instead (we won’t judge if you go outside the lines). Print off alphabet coloring pages and provide crayons at each table. Ask guests to color a sheet or two during the event and compile them all in a photo album or binder with clear plastic sleeves. Voila! Now you have a handmade alphabet book for the baby.

Name Coloring Sheet

Sticking with the coloring theme, why not offer Personalized Name Coloring at your shower? Guests can get the name of their choice printed and decorate it any style they want for a fun time filler and take home. Want to take it to the next level? Have guests select what they think you should name the baby and have them give the finished masterpieces to the parents-to-be. Who knows, you might even end up with the perfect décor for the nursery.  Another option is to go with the theme – safari: have people do their favorite animal, Disney: their favorite character.

There are so many great ideas out there to make your baby shower stand out. Have a great idea of your own? Let us know about it in the comments!
